A ‘to do’ list, one sale, one possible and more to list - is eBay worth it?

I have sold some roof bars for the Ford Transit.  We needed them when we were doing the kitchen/utility/shower room build/refit. We do not need them any longer.  Another item (arguably 2) on its way out of our lives.  Can’t claim things are moving quickly on the decluttering front but at least the roof bars are going.  Now, if only I could get rid of the set of Transit wing mirrors that have taken up residence under my study desk…….

They have been on for 66 days, have only had 4 views and have 1 watcher so are likely to be restricting my foot space for a while longer.  There does, however, seem to be some interest in a coat I put on at the weekend.  23 views and 4 watchers.  This would suggest it is in with a chance though since it is only on for £11 one might have hoped that someone would have taken the plunge by now.  I’m told that Vinted is better for selling clothes but equally I understand that the prices get beaten down a lot.  Such bartering takes time and living where we do tends to add an additional travel cost to arranging delivery beyond the actual postage.  Maybe I should take a look, maybe I should just save my time and take it all to a charity shop though I do quite like having a little eBay sales pot in place to fund my eBay purchases.

Status quo it is then!

On that note S was free to meet for coffee at lunchtime.  Even more unusually he initiated a conversation as to the headline items for the (now seemingly) joint 2026 ‘To Do’ list.  I am so not going to turn my nose up at an ‘agreed’ list so here it goes:

  • The 10 single glazed windows in the house will be replaced.
  • Of the three sofas we have either in the house or in the container (long story) we have chosen 2 to keep.  Both will need recovering.  The third, once the others are returned to us looking (briefly) pristine, will be the subject of an invite to the Council to collect.  That will be at a cost but at least we will not have to lug it to the tip ourselves.
  • The main bedroom furniture in the container will be moved to the MiL’s third bedroom.  That will require a removal company as the furniture, though lovely, is big.  If it weren’t we would be keeping it ourselves.  The bed in the MiL’s third bedroom will come to our house to replace our bed which will join the sofa on the driveway for collection by the Council.
  • The standalone cooker in the container will be brought home, cleaned and listed on eBay.
  • The AGA currently in pieces in the shed will be listed on eBay.
  • The towel rail and no longerb functioning extractor fan in the bathroom will be replaced.
  • The motorbike will go on eBay.
  • One of the bikes will be broken down and the forks sent off for repair.  Once that it is done the panic buy bike to use on our summer holiday last year can be listed on eBay.

If we succeed with that little lot over the course of the year I shall be feeling a lot happier about both the house and the amount of ‘stuff’ that we have.  There will still be plenty of work to do but things will be looking up as regards simplifying our lives as we move towards retirement.

Just as well I didn’t decide to forsake eBay this morning.
