NHS, old pension, maintained weight and an eBay sale - good day all round!

Hardly balmy but not a bad day out here in the flat lands.

NHS

My Dad had an appointment this am for a CT scan.  It had been playing on his mind a little and Mum is seldom an enthusiastic driver so I offered to drive them there.  The letter wasn’t as clear as it might have been for where to go but Pilgrim really isn’t that big, the information desk has always proved helpful and we had allowed loads of time.  Turns out the information desk doesn’t open until noon on a Saturday but a short recce later, they were in the correct waiting room and I went to get a cup of tea and run through my emails.

Fat chance!  I had barely started on my tea before they were back.  All done, nearly 20 minutes before their actual scheduled appointment.  It was so quick it had been less than 30 minutes since we entered the car park and the payment machine was not charging me.

The MiL is also going from strength to strength following her short stay in Peterborough Hospital over Christmas.  I am hoping this family favourable outlook re the NHS is going to last for the filling I need replacing on Thursday!

Pension

I received a letter from my ‘lentil and bean budget’ pension provider today.  One of those ‘you’ve turned 60 do you want to do anything?’ enquiries.  No I don’t, it is a defined benefit pension from an employer I left in the mid 90s when on a very small salary.  The last I heard it really is only going to be enough to keep me in lentils, dried beans and may be a few tins of tomatoes but it has some odd add ons.  That is ‘odd’ as in ‘interesting’ aka unheard of (albeit also tiny) for those of us reliant on defined contribution schemes so it stays where/as it is.  Good to hear from them though as I hadn’t heard for aeons and was beginning to think that was going to involve some effort in tracing.

Ski set up

Time, or thereabouts, for the annual weigh in.  I don’t tend to weigh myself as there is little point if I am not going to do anything about it and, realistically, I am not.

I do not have a sweet tooth but on days when I am in the office if there is a cake, biscuit, chocolate or sweet anywhere I will hunt it down, I will find it and it will be mine, unless someone else gets there first and they will need to be quick.  Once a year, however, I consider it necessary to check in case it might affect my ski set up.  Frankly, the parameters are wide enough for this to be unlikely if I am still getting into most of my clothes but I am responsible for my own safety and this is one small way in which I make an effort to protect it.  Turns out I am as equally overweight but not obese as the last few years.  Not so sure re fitness or even if everything is quite in the same place as it was but those are not today’s goals.  My skis are good to go!

EBay Sale

The red coat has finally sold on eBay.  Last time I looked there were 72 views and 11 watchers.   EBay was exhorting me to make an offer to those interested.  If they weren’t buying at £11 I’m not convinced they were that interested though it was a fascinating watch for me.  I don’t think I have ever had 73 views for anything in the past.  Someone has,  however, decided she wants it so I have wrapped it up in tissue, placed it in a waterproof envelope and hope she enjoys it.  I end today with one less item in the house and slow progress though this may be, it is progress!
