Some jobs got done
It has been a difficult week to say the least but not without the odd highlight. I believe they are referred to in society, other than that of the Dowager Countess of Grantham, as weekends.
We have an entirely acceptable quote for the new windows so the first part of that plan is underway. Can’t say I am totally thrilled about the style but it seems Health and Safety is messing with the aesthetic. The present ones have been in since the late 70s/early 80s and no one has died yet is all I can say.
Strawberry jam cupboard stocks enhanced. We are at that time of year when thoughts turn to ‘OMG if I don’t get stuff out of that freezer we are never getting this year’s crops in’! A date and walnut cake was added to the kitchen tally for the really rather similar reason of dates and walnuts having been in the cupboard since Christmas.
I have four ‘need to look the part and jeans won’t cut it’ outfit options for the coming week’s monster meeting and whatever scrub up work thing someone might subject me to next. None seen outside the house since late 2019/early 2020. Actually, in one case I have no recollection of wearing it or something approximating it (I really cannot spend all day in the shoes I last wore with it) since September 2016 so putting that one down to the pandemic might be a bit rich.
The grass has had its first cut (S not me) my parents’ robot mower has been collected from our container along with our garden umbrella and the trestles returned to the container following some repairs to the back door last weekend. 10 bags of compost purchased. I should really just buy a pallet and have it delivered but potting compost is a lottery post the peat ban and having found one I like I’m sticking with it and that means lugging it about myself.
13 trugs of potatoes - Charlottes(salad potato/Second Early), Swift (First Early) and Kestrel (Second Early) - and 2 of carrots (mixed coloured and red) have been planted up. I have potted on some rosemary cuttings and have sown a large pot of lovage and a smaller one of parsley. A very elderly bag of fine bark mulch that has been hanging around has been chucked on the veg bed intended for mixed stuff which is not allocated for a muck mulch. It is well rotted down so should add something, I have no other plans for it and it is one less thing cluttering up the side of the house.
S did some running repairs on the greenhouse. The robot mower is fully charged, my parents have fully charged their phones and iPads though there was a slight blip shortly after 8am this morning when I got a message to say that they did not appear to be on WIFI. Turned out to be the small matter of them changing Broadband provider this week. Thankfully very easily sorted. My tech issues are bad enough without introducing more into the mix.
Just need S to be ready for ‘Sunday Project Robot’!
