About

Hi, I’m Sarah and welcome to ‘Never Quite Enough Time’.  In not all that many days  of starting this blog I will turn 60.  I seem to remember being told that this would be when retired.  Well that’s not going to happen but over the next few years there are going to be significant changes so join me for this transitional stage in my life and beyond as I try to work out how to stay healthy, get fitter, plan for and enjoy the opportunities and no doubt challenges that come along.

By way of a little background I live with my husband in, what estate agents refer to as, semi rural fenland.  My parents and mother in law live within a 20 minute drive of us.  Like many others we currently work three days in the office and two at home.  For us retirement is looking a few years off yet but as friends have started to retire early, plans are starting to be made and steps taken towards it.

We are a very long way from being self-sufficient and so often convenience trumps all but gardening, cooking and preserving feature quite large in my life at points throughout the year.  We also probably take on more ourselves than some as regards projects and maintenance around the house and garden.  Jobs, or the principal responsibility for them, tend to be divided on a gender stereotypical basis between us.  I know that is not the same for everyone but it works for us.

As you may discover, if you venture past this page, we are also not short of other interests though finding the time to indulge to the extent we might wish really is going to have to wait for that retirement I may already have mentioned, once or twice.
