Cars and Cathedrals Tour - Loire Valley to Reims

Seem to have got a little out of sync here so catch up time.

First car museum ticked off the list - Matra museum.  The Matra factory in Romorantin-Lanthenay is where, when it was still going ie before the lack of commercial success of the Avantime, Ava was built.  S is on a nostalgia trip and the car comes too!

It turns out we are a week or two late for the rush.  60-70 Renault Avantime from the UK owners clubs (who knew there was such a thing?) were to be seen en masse in car parks in the Loire Valley last week.  S discovered that on Facebook.  Still we had no problem parking

A lot of familiar elements and style cars from our younger years and you can certainly see how ideas have been incorporated into other cars over the years.  Definitely high on innovation with some racing success but I’m understanding why there might have been some commerciality issues.

As an aside, the ladies loo was immaculate which, for France, is not necessarily a given.  That said, reception staff aside, those present by some margin were male so they well may get cleaned more than used.

Obviously we bought a poster of Matra cars over the years for a suitable space in his garage ‘cos that’s the way we roll!

……and on to Troyes and our third Cathedral of the trip.

Plus a bonus Basilica

It was always going to be a big driving day and from Troyes we set off to Reims.
